Hello, friend! My name is Mackenzie Tenold and I am a Self-Taught Freelancing Makeup Artist based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. I was born and raised in the great state of Iowa! Following high school, I attended the University of Iowa (Go Hawks), graduating from there in 2019. One month after graduation, I packed up all of my belongings and set out for North Carolina where I have been ever since… I LOVE THIS CITY/STATE! I have to mention that I also am a proud Dog Mom to little miss LuLu whose a Shih Tzu/Maltese mix. She has the cutest underbite and is quite the cuddle-bug when she’s not begging to play fetch.
Mission
Somedays I swear my love for makeup started when I came out of the womb, LOL. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been OBSESSED with makeup.
Whether it was begging my family to let me do their makeup, or playing with my mom’s lipsticks, you’d find me somewhere near makeup products! A funny story my mom always tells about my love for makeup is when I was about eight years old, she took me with her on a trip to Colorado. Being after 9/11, security was very strict. She had instructed me I could only bring two lip glosses with me on the trip. Well, we got in the line for security and I pulled out my zip lock bag of lipsticks/lip glosses etc. and it was filled to the brim. Woops? I think I had about twelve with me. How was I supposed to decide on just two?!? I need options, MOM!
Vision
In all seriousness, I love what makeup can do for a woman. Nobody NEEDS to wear makeup but I take great pleasure in having the opportunity to help women feel more confident by enhancing their natural beauty. There is truly no better feeling for me! Throughout high school and college I spent my free time doing makeup for proms, dance recitals, weddings, special occasions, you name it… I’ve probably done it! Over the years, I’ve continued to learn and elevate my artistry by following masters such as Mario Dedivanovic (Kim Kardashian’s MUA), Jaclyn Hill, and Gucci Westman just to name a few. I study their videos and practice techniques until I feel like I’ve grasped their concepts.
Since I have started MakeupxMackJo, I have never been happier. My clients have helped me curate such a wonderful culture which elates me for the future! It is my utmost priority to bring your vision to life and perfect your makeup. I look forward to servicing you!
